IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 28, 2007

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA - The California Association of Regional Currency Offices announced the issue of the 2007 California “Silver Bear”. The one ounce Silver Bear with a face value of $20 features the Bear and Star that are so prominent on the State Flag of California. The 2007 California Bear is the first in a new generation of private labeled State Libertys, bearing the symbolism of our state’s flag.

The Grizzly represents California’s power, and the lone-star denotes our independent spirit.

The California Silver Bear is the Bear Republic’s version of the Liberty Dollar; a legal, private, and voluntary barter currency that was introduced in 1998 and currently boasts a circulation of over $20 million throughout the United States and its territories. The Silver Bear builds on the previous private labeled silver State Libertys for 25 states issued in 2006.

The 2007 California Bear is available in three types: 1) a special First Day of Issue of 100 with a micro hand stamped hallmark in the shape of California, 2) a very Limited, Numbered Edition of 100 that are hand numbered with FDI hallmark and 3) a Brilliant Uncirculated Issue is $20 each.
